Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Expected To Release in 2023

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season 2

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season 2

In a franchise that has released a slew of new projects and programs over the past few years, Star Trek continues to boldly go where many stories have gone before. Even if more films starring William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy are on the way, the story that got things started still has much to offer viewers. One of those is Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, an unmistakable nod to the original series in a chronology we didn’t expect.

The second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is already being spoken about since Paramount has a second season in the works. Check out all we know about the upcoming second season.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season 2 Plotline

After years of anticipation, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds kicked off with much hoopla in early May. Rather than starting with the famed Star Trek actors, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds takes place at a time before they were even introduced to the public in the original series. Captain Christopher Pike, who was originally supposed to be the show’s star, is in command of the ship. There are also characters from the original series that you’ll know, albeit in younger form. Star Trek: Discovery takes place just a few years before the events of Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: Enterprise.

Gene Roddenberry’s original vision for Star Trek: The Next Generation was for the show to follow Pike when he took command of the Enterprise in 1964. There were a lot of parallels between Jeffrey Hunter’s portrayal of Pike in the pilot episode (“The Cage”) and what we would see later. At the time, though, NBC decided to discard the pilot and order another one with a significant difference. As James T. Kirk, William Shatner would have been in charge of the ship’s control systems.

However, don’t forget that this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the recast bunch of characters in action on the small screen. Season 2 premiered Anson Mount in the role of Christopher Pike when he temporarily grabbed the reins as captain of the Starship Discovery Discovery’s second season also introduces us to Ethan Peck’s Spock, who is accused of murder and on the run, as well as Rebecca Romijn as Number One.

As a whole, Strange New Worlds is built on the foundation laid by the events of Discovery, although not every character is aware of it and you don’t need to have seen that season to appreciate the current series. During the course of Discovery, we see a glimpse into Pike’s future and his reluctance to assume command of the Enterprise once more, as seen in the premiere of Strange New Worlds.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season 2 Release date

Well, for starters, we are still in the thick of this show’s first season. The first season’s four episodes were yet to air when this article was written. We can be sure of one thing: there is a route to proceed with this stuff. However, Paramount was aware of the show’s success and the support of the original fandom when they re-upped Season 2 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds before the pilot aired. They were anxious to get started on the second round of articles because they understood what they were dealing with.

A possible release date for Season 2 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is 2023. If they want to maintain a consistent airing schedule season after season, a comparable release date for the first season on Paramount+ in early May makes logical. This would fit in well with the original series and be a great way to continue the franchise’s success.

As a result, it’s possible that other series in this franchise may not follow suit, therefore this may not be the case. Discovery, for example, has been released annually since 2017, albeit its release month has jumped around a bit. We haven’t seen this kind of rigorous commitment in the past with network television.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season 2 Cast

Assumptions about who will return for Season 2 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds can be made without having viewed the full first season. As a starting point, Christopher Pike, Ethan Peck, and Celia Rose Gooding are all expected to return for the upcoming season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Because these characters were still around in the first Star Trek series, this is a cinch. With that in mind, they will all be around until Pike hands over command of the Enterprise to Kirk at some point in the future.

Christine Chapel, played by Jess Bush, and M’Benga, played by Babs Olusanmokun, also appear in this ensemble. For continuity, Rebecca Romijn and Christina Chong are likely to return as well as Melissa Navia and Bruce Horak.
