Will SNL’s 50th Season Be it’s Final?

Is this the final season of Saturday Night Live? Thompson, one of the longest-serving members of the cast of Saturday Night Live’s Kenan & Kel, recently said that Season 50 could be “a fantastic number to end at.”

When Charlamagne Tha God, the host of Comedy Central’s Hell of a Week with Charlamagne Tha God, informed Thompson of the rumour that Saturday Night Live would be ending after its 50th season, Thompson responded with the statement.

Michaels’ 2021 interview with Gayle King on CBS Morning is the source of the rumour. Michaels, 77, said in the interview that he intends to remain on the show until it celebrates its 50th anniversary. It’s something he wants to see through, and he believes it would be a good time to leave.

When Thompson was asked about these remarks by Charlamagne, he replied, “Is that the rumour? So I’ll have to start thinking about it now. That rumour has a lot of merits because 50 is a good place to end.” Everything about it is extraordinary.

Michaels has been in charge of SNL from its inception in 1975, with the exception of a five-year sabbatical from 1980 to 1985. Ex-Saturday Night Live cast members host both The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers, which he also oversees as a producer and executive producer.

Michaels is a “legend,” Thompson said. “He keeps those corporate wolves at bay,” Thompson added. Every week, “they spend a lot of money on that show, but it’s a one-of-a-kind item.” ”
