Is Elissa Slotkin Divorced With Her Husband Dave?

According to a report by the Detroit Free Press, a rumored candidate for the Senate and current Democratic representative of Michigan, Elissa Slotkin, announced over the weekend that she and her spouse would be having a divorce.

“After careful consideration, we are saddened to announce that we are divorcing after 12 years of marriage,”

Slotkin and her husband, Dave Moore, announced in a joint statement to the press. Slotkin and Dave Moore had been married for 12 years at the time.

“We’ve reached this decision together after much reflection and we do it on agreeable terms.”

The news follows a report that Fox News Digital published before the midterm elections of the previous year, which stated that Slotkin moved into the home of a lobbyist who was also a donor to her campaign to run for re-election in a different district following the redrawing of congressional maps as a result of the 2020 census.

Slotkin, who had previously served as the representative for Michigan’s 8th Congressional District from 2019 to 2022, uprooted her family from their farm in northern Oakland County, located just outside of Detroit, and relocated to Lansing that she could run for the newly drawn 7th District.

According to statistics from the state of Michigan’s voter registration, Slotkin changed her voting address in May 2022 to match the location of a home in Lansing that is currently held by Jerry Hollister, who has been a frequent supporter of Slotkin’s campaign.

Hollister is also an executive of Niowave Inc., a pharmaceutical manufacturing company based in Lansing that has been awarded millions of dollars in funding from the federal government.

It is not entirely apparent whether or if there is a relationship between Slotkin’s move into the Hollister home and her decision to end her marriage. Fox News Digital attempted to contact a Slotkin representative for comment, but the company did not immediately respond to the company’s inquiry.

Ahead of the election in 2022, the campaign for Slotkin denied that her congressional office had campaigned for Niowave contracts or was engaged with them in any way.

The previous year, Slotkin also corrected earlier financial reports after missing information about her husband’s employment with a company that had won government contracts worth millions of dollars for the two years previous to that.

Following an inquiry from Fox News Digital regarding her spouse’s absence of job information, she decided to make the necessary changes to the financial reports for 2020 and 2021.

She finally prevailed in her attempt for re-election, prevailing by a razor-thin margin against her Republican opponent, state Senator Tom Barrett, who received just under 52% of the vote.

There have been persistent rumors that Slotkin is the leading candidate to succeed Sen. Debbie Stabenow, a Democrat from Michigan. Stabenow’s current term is set to expire this year, and she has stated that she would not seek re-election.

After serving in the House of Representatives for the previous four years, Slotkin stated one month ago that she is “seriously considering” a candidacy for the vacant seat in the Senate.
