Shang-Chi 2: Is This Series Renewed or Cancelled? Latest Updates

Shang-Chi 2

Shang-Chi fans have reason to cheer! It was announced in December 2021 that a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is in the works.

The first film was premiered in theatres in September of this year, and it was made available on Disney Plus UK in November as part of the celebrations for Disney Plus Day.

As a result, Destin Daniel Cretton will return to write and direct the sequel, which will include Simu Liu reprising his role as Shang-Chi, the master of martial arts.

As a result of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ “surprise” conclusion and the ensuing end credits scenes, we have some thoughts about what may happen next to some of our favourite characters.

So, without further ado, here is all we currently know about the second Shang-Chi film.

We got you covered in the meanwhile if you want to see the Marvel flicks in their chronological order.

Shang-Chi 2 Release Date

Only in December 2021 was it reported that a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be released, with filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton returning to write and direct the picture.

Consequently, the picture has not yet commenced production and will not begin filming until late 2022 at the earliest, according to the studio.

The sequel will most likely not be released until at least a couple of years later, with the earliest possible release date being 2024, according to our estimates.

Shang-Chi Cast

Simu Liu will, of course, reprise his role as the hero Xu Shang-Chi, following the events of the previous film, which left him confident in his heroism and saw him face his demons for the first time.

“Certainly, I hope to be back,” Liu stated earlier this year in an interview with RadioTimes.com regarding a then-unconfirmed sequel. The point at which we left off in the film undoubtedly makes some allusions to it. “I’m crossing my fingers.”

Given that the end credits scene of the first film featured him with his closest friend Katy Chen (Awkwafina), we can probably expect to see her again in this film as well.

Awkwafina had stated to RadioTimes.com earlier in the year. “I think it would be cool to see if [Katy] develops any interests in anything. But I think, really, I want to see where her and Shang’s relationship goes.”

Among the other characters that have the possibility to return are Meng’er Zhang, who is currently serving as the new leader of the Ten Rings, alongside Razor Fist (Florian Munteanu) and Jon Jon (Ronny Chieng), as well as other supporting characters.

Meanwhile, the first film introduced us to Shang-maternal Chi’s aunt Ying Nan, who was portrayed by Michelle Yeoh, and it’s possible that we’ll see her again in the second film as well.

The reappearance of Benedict Wong as Wong and Sir Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, two other MCU characters from the original film, are possible candidates for a second appearance.

In addition, despite the fact that both characters have now passed away, there is always the possibility that Tony Leung and Fala Chen would reprise their roles as Wenwu and Ying Li in flashback scenes.

Shang-Chi 2 Trailer

Unfortunately, no footage from the sequel has yet to be released, as Shang-second Chi’s feature was only recently announced.

Disney Plus, on the other hand, now allows fans to see deleted moments from the original film.

We will be sure to upload the trailer here as soon as it becomes available, but we must warn you that it will be a long wait as the film has not yet begun production. We apologize for any inconvenience.
