Robert John Wagner Jr. was born on February 10, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan. Hazel, his mom, worked in the telephone industry. Robert Srfather . was a successful paint and lacquer dealer who made a fortune selling to the auto industry. His family uprooted and headed west when he was seven years old. It seemed his father had saved enough money to retire in warm and sunny Southern California.
