After Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) appeared on CBS’s Face the Nation, and gave piece of his mind about Senator Ted Cruz, by dismissing it as funny when asked about Ted Cruz’s accusation, that Fauci lied before the Congress, Republicans have jumped to the defense of the Texan Senator.
Speaking to Fox News on this development, Ted Cruz told Fox News’ anchor that Fauci was “the most dangerous bureaucrat in the history of the country.”
He further said Fauci had talked “about hurting science but I don’t think anyone has hurt science, has hurt the credibility of the CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention], has hurt the credibility of doctors more than Dr. Fauci because, throughout this pandemic, he’s been dishonest, he’s been political, he’s been partisan.”
He went on to question the National Institute of Health (NIH) funding for gain-of-function search in the lab which is alleged to be the original center of the virus in Wuhan, China. He also stated the penalty he could face once the allegation is proved.
While denying lying, in response, Dr. Fauci said “I have to laugh at that. I should be prosecuted? What happened on January 6 senator?” when asked a question about Cruz’s push for prosecution.
Senator Rand Paul, a Republican who often clashes with Dr. Fauci also commented, “It’s astounding and alarming that a public health bureaucrat would even think to claim such a thing, especially one who has worked so hard to ignore the science of natural immunity.”
Fox News and especially Tucker Carlson, has also been relentlessly pursuing Fauci, and the exaggerations reached the realms of comparing him with Benito Mussolini, the Italian fascist dictator.
“After two years of being nonstop media adulation, Tony Fauci has morphed into an even shorter version of Benito Mussolini,” he said.
