When Will the Ranking of Kings Season 2 be Release?

At the end of 2021, Ranking of Kings sprang out of nowhere, captivating anime fans with its gorgeous euro-fantasy aesthetic and delightfully empowering tale of a young deaf prince.

In all honesty, the program’s first season was a masterwork of contemporary anime writing. It kept viewers guessing the entire time as it told a clever, provocative story about heroism (and what heroes look like) throughout 23 episodes. It is also undoubtedly beautiful.

But what does the series’ future contain now that the first season is firmly in the past?

We now know that a “special episode” of Ranking of Kings will air in 2023, even though the schedule for the second season has not yet been revealed.

When will the Ranking of Kings season 2 air?

When can we anticipate the return of everyone’s favorite boy-king if we get a proper second season? Looking at how long it took to obtain the initial batch of episodes will give you the most accurate estimate. The first season of Ranking of Kings covered the first 12 volumes (156 chapters) of the original manga, now referred to as “Part 1.”

Although the series’ creator Ssuke Tōka began writing it in 2017, the first of these volumes was released in February 2019, and the twelfth was released in December. Tōka had to work for at least three years to write enough content for the current adaption.

Part 2’s first volume, Volume #13, will soon be released and fits into the one book every four months schedule. There are currently 191 chapters in the Ranking of Kings for that keeping score.

Bojji won’t have enough experience to warrant a second anime season for about two and a half years. If we’re optimistic and season two is approved, we can anticipate its release at the end of 2024. If WIT Studios chose to create a 12-episode second season instead, this might happen sooner. Let’s hope that following the April 2023 airing of Treasure Chest of Courage, we receive confirmation in either direction.

Who is in the Ranking of Kings season 2 cast?

We would anticipate seeing all of the pals Bojji made on his first expedition if the show were to return for a second season. Here are the voice actors for all of Ranking of Kings’ notable characters in both Japanese and English.

• Prince Bojji – Minami Hinata (Japanese) / Emily Fajardo (English)
• Kage – Ayumu Murase (Japanese) / SungWon Cho (English)
• Queen Hilling – Rina Satō (Japanese) / Luci Christian (English)
• Daida – Yûki Kaji (Japanese) / Justin Briner (English)
• Miranjo – Maaya Sakamoto (Japanese) / Brianna Roberts (English)
• Domas – Takuya Eguchi (Japanese) / A. J. Locascio (English)
• Dorshe – Hinata Tadokoro (Japanese) / Brent Mukai (English)
• Apeas – Hiroki Yasumoto (Japanese) / Luis Bermudez (English)
• Bebin – Yōji Ueda (Japanese) / Christopher Wehkamp (English)
• Despa – Takahiro Sakurai (Japanese) / Christopher R. Sabat (English)
• King Desha – Yoshimitsu Shimoyama (Japanese) / Gabe Kunda (English)
• King Bosse – Kenta Miyake (Japanese) / Cris George (English)

The first season of Ranking of Kings was directed by an all-star production team, which included principal director Makoto Fuchigami (Soul Eater), director Yousuke Hatta (Death Parade, One Punch Man), and assistant director Arifumi Imai (Attack On Titan).

What will happen in the Ranking of Kings season 2?

Most of the major plot lines in Ranking of Kings season one were resolved by the show’s conclusion. Bojji and the great four were able to beat Ouken and Miranjo; King Bosse eventually passed away (for sure this time), drifting out in a rather graceful manner. King Daida was given authority over his body once more. Oh, and in case you missed it, Daida asked Miranjo to marry her.

Given that the stakes have been raised, it’s difficult to predict where the tale will go if there is a season two. The very last seconds of the show’s ending might contain some hints.

Two significant events occur: Boji abdicates the throne and decides to go with Kage (who can blame him? ), and Desha is recognized as the new top-ranking King. Desha vows to find a means to save their sibling Ouken along with his brother (who was just squashed into a ball and yeeted into a lake, FYI).

We are eager to learn more about those two events, least of all about the mysterious organization responsible for the ‘rankings,’ as they undoubtedly plant the seeds for future storylines.

There isn’t much information available save rumors. Still, author Ssuke Tka stated in an interview with Anime News Network in December: “I’m a delicate-hearted person, so I love stories with happy endings. I’d like to make everyone happy if I can. But I can’t do that for the bad guys. The core is as simple as that.”

Who knows what this will signify, though, as we’re not sure if Ranking of Kings features any characters who can correctly be classified as “bad.”

When can I watch the Ranking of Kings season 2 trailer?

Expect a season two trailer in April 2024 if our prediction of a late 2024 release is accurate, much as the first Ranking of Kings trailer debuted around five months before the first episode aired. In either case, as soon as we learn more, we’ll let you know right here.
