Jason David Frank’s wife is talking about his death, and she confirms that he killed himself. When his death was established on November 20, he was 49 years old. Even though the cause of death wasn’t known at the time, Jason Frank’s wife, Tammie Frank, thinks that a lot of the media wrongly reported that the actor had killed himself and made wrong assumptions about her and how they were together.
Now, Tammie is talking to PEOPLE in an exclusive interview on behalf of their family to set the record straight about Jason’s last night and help other people who are also struggling with their mental health.
“My name is Tammie Frank, and my husband’s name is Jason David Frank. He took his own life last week, which was a terrible tragedy,” she says. “Some people knew the name Jason, but we lived a pretty normal life with ups and downs like everyone else. I can’t believe how sad and shocked I am that the media has made up a story about what happened to my family. Since Jason died, people have been bothering me online, and I can’t stand to see my husband’s good name ruined.”
“I loved my husband, and we were trying to figure out what was wrong. I’m just as surprised as anyone else by his death, “she says. “I had no idea that Jason was thinking about ending things. Yes, he had been depressed and had mental health problems in the past, but I had no idea what would happen that night.”
She says, “It was supposed to be a fun weekend trip, but I lost the love of my life instead. Jason was a good person, but he had his own problems. He was a person, just like everyone else.” In the next part of her statement, Tammie talks about what happened on the evening of November 19, not long after they “made up.”
“We had planned to split up at first, and that’s true. But that’s not all of the stories. The part that hasn’t been told is that when he died, we had just ended our separation and were about to get back together, “she says. “Don’t get me wrong, we had ups and downs and many problems during our 19-year marriage, but this year was especially hard for us.”
“My daughter Shayla died all of a sudden a year ago. Jason helped me raise her as if she were his own. When it happened, Jason was the one who found her, and the whole thing tore our family apart, “she shares. “Since we lost her and took care of her baby son, Jason and I started having problems in our marriage. If you’ve ever felt the pain of losing a child, you know how a loss like that can affect your marriage.”
Tammie says that she and Jason broke up because they “didn’t know what else to do.” But about six weeks ago, they decided to start dating again after a close family friend “helped us realize that we still loved each other and shouldn’t give up just yet.”
Still, the two of them knew they had to “take things slowly and work out any problems.” As part of their plan to get back together, Jason planned a two-night trip for them, during which they went to a country dancing event, which Tammie says Jason planned because he knew that was something she loved to do. Tammie says that even though they were on the trip together, they got two hotel rooms because “that’s just how we do things” and “my husband snored.”
She also says that hotel guests complained about the noise that night, but she says that it was because “we were having fun and enjoying the weekend, not arguing or fighting.” “At the event, we danced and stayed out until the bar closed. Jason and I were having a heartfelt and emotional talk in his room when we got back to the hotel, “she thinks.

“I went downstairs to get us some snacks from the lobby to help Jason calm down and get ready for bed. It can’t have been more than 10 minutes since I left. I went back up to the top floor and started knocking on the door, but no one answered. I knocked on the door several times and kept calling his name for him to open it.”
“I don’t know if the hotel staff or a guest called the police, but after they took me downstairs, they could open the door and find that Jason had killed himself,” she says. “These were the “disturbances” that have been talked about online many times,” At the end of her statement, Tammie asks people to “stop assuming and let my family grieve in peace.”
“All we want to do is remember Jason and our best times with him and get over the pain of losing him. ” I ask for sympathy and understanding during this hard time, “she says. “Thank you to all of Jason’s fans and people who support him and our family. May God bless you all.” When news of Jason’s death came out on November 20, a rep for the actor told PEOPLE that it was true.
