After Diana Cojocari’s daughter Madalina Cojocari went missing on November 23, the Cornelius Police Department stated that Diana Cojocari and her husband, Christopher Palmiter, had been charged with failing to report the disappearance of a child to law enforcement. The Cornelius Police Department provided this information.
According to a news release, Madalina, 11 years old, was last seen at her residence in Cornelius, North Carolina, located approximately 20 miles outside of Charlotte. On December 15, a school resource officer at Bailey Middle School was allegedly informed by her mother and stepfather that she had gone missing. On Saturday, police took into custody Diana, age 37, and Palmiter, age 60.
It was not apparent whether the two individuals filed a plea to the charge or whether they hired attorneys who can comment on their behalf. According to the records from the jail, the pair is currently being detained at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center.
An announcement to that effect was made on the Facebook page of the Cornelius Police Department on Monday “search area outside the residence in where Madalina was last seen, and this now encompasses Lake Cornelius As a safety precaution, we are expanding our search efforts across both land and ocean.” The authorities say that Madalina is in the sixth grade and passionate about horses.
