Fans of Overwatch 2 aren’t happy with how much and how well the story is told in the sequel. The new Hero bios, in particular, aren’t very interesting.
As pointed out in the Overwatch subreddit (which opens in a new tab), one player is disappointed with how the story of Overwatch 2 is going right now. This player even went so far as to call the new Hero bios “amateurish and embarrassing.” The lengthy post on Reddit explains why this is the case, and many other fans seem to agree in the comments.
One of the main complaints is that the Hero bios on the official Overwatch website(opens in a new tab) have been cut down to a single paragraph, contain character descriptions that go against what has already been established in Overwatch lore, and some even have grammatical errors.

When the story was being prepared, there was “no mention” of the complete names of many heroes. This was the case at the time. Additional errors can be found in Bastion’s introductory paragraph. For instance, the character is referred to using the pronoun “he” rather than the pronoun “it,” and the location of its base of operations is listed as “unknown,” even though it has been found for quite some time.
In addition, the character is referred to using the pronoun “he” rather than the pronoun “it.” One of the most apparent issues is in Soldier 76’s bio, where one word almost completely ruins the story that Blizzard had developed around the character. This is one of the most obvious faults. This is one of the most glaring issues that need to be addressed.
These problems must be resolved, even though some people may view them as unimportant or inconsequential, according to what is described in the post. “Overwatch 2 was going to be a significant story extension for the original game, Overwatch. The text of the post states, “It was supposed to be what finally tells us more about the characters and expands the universe forwards, but so far what we are getting is careless errors, a severe cut in the already sparse lore, and universe-defining retcons that are just being casually thrown around and left undiscussed.”
As a result, it is understandable that some fans are anxious about the development of Overwatch’s narrative. The characters and the tale that surrounds them were a big part of what drew many people to Blizzard’s shooter in the first place, so it’s not surprising that many people have voiced their displeasure in the comments section. On the other hand, several people have mentioned that this is exactly what they had come to anticipate from a team shooter game.
