This is the moment Over Watch 1 died forever

The first Overwatch is no longer available six years after it came out. Blizzard has turned off the game for good so that Overwatch 2 can go free-to-play tomorrow.

Fans gathered earlier today to see Overwatch’s last moments and record the actual event for future generations. Even though it was one of the most important games of all time, it ended with a simple “disconnected” message and no fanfare.

At least a few official lobby chat server messages tried to give the event some meaning by telling players, “Even the best trips come to an end, but another one is just around the corner. Thank you, brave people! We’ll see you on October 4! “. Before Overwatch 1 went away, the last message said, “See you on the other side.”

Overwatch 1 goes offline. Since taking Overwatch 1 offline, Blizzard has put a new message in the game explaining why the servers are down. The statement says that the servers are down so that Blizzard can get ready for the launch of Overwatch 2, which is expected to happen tomorrow at 7 pm UK Time (11 am PT).
