Online Petition For Fresh Issue Of Stimulus Checks Gathers Millions Of Signatures

The federal government owing to the pandemic had taken out stimulus checks to aid those in need or compensate for the loss of opportunity, medical aid, or basic necessities which were all hampered for the past 2 years.

Congress had approved 3 checks to be distributed to most Americans. The first payment was made in March 2020 of $1,200. It was followed by an additional $600 last December. After Joe Biden took office, he further announced the third check of $1,400 as a part of his American Rescue Plan.

Although the money credited has helped families in one way or another, the aftermath of the pandemic which still isn’t truly over persists. The looming loss of jobs, the peaking inflation has still not bought millions of American families back to normalcy.

Due to the persistence of such circumstances, an online petition has been doing rounds, urging the federal government to provide the families, additional stimulus checks of $2,000 on a monthly basis, at least until the pandemic is over.

The signatories believe that the government needs to be more proactive in supporting the citizens of its country. The petition is enlisted on, it is worded as, “I’m calling on Congress to support families with a $2,000 payment for adults and a $1,000 payment for kids immediately, and continuing regular checks for the duration of the crisis.

Otherwise, laid-off workers, furloughed workers, the self-employed, and workers dealing with reduced hours will struggle to pay their rent or put food on the table,”

Many such petitions are doing rounds, calling the government to be fiscally responsible in this hour of need, by supporting the people. Some states have actually paid heed and sanctioned additional stimulus checks such as California.
