Minx Season 2: Under David Zaslav’s leadership, HBO Max loses another employee. The most recent television program to be canceled by Warner Bros. Minx, a comedic series starring Jake Johnson on Discovery, HBO Max renewed Minx for a second season following the first season which received favorable reviews.

According to Deadline, when the business changed its mind and canceled the show, Minx season 2 was halfway through shooting. The Ellen Rappaport-created serial focused on a young feminist who collaborated with a modest publisher to launch the first s*exy women’s magazine.

Along with Ophelia Lovibond, Michael Angarano, Lennon Parham, Jessica Lowe, and Oscar Montoya, Jake Johnson had a prominent role. There will be no Minx season 2, and HBO Max will shortly stop streaming Minx season 1. Minx’s cancellation might jeopardize other Lionsgate TV and HBO Max collaborations, including the second season of the comedy Julia and the upcoming Elizabeth Olsen-starring series Love and Death.

The good news is that Netflix may be able to salvage Minx because Lionsgate TV is looking to sell the program to someone else. In a statement, Lionsgate said: “We have enjoyed a fantastic experience with HBO Max and are working hard to find a new opportunity for Minx so current and new viewers can continue this adventure with us.”

Minx Canceled at HBO Max Despite Season 2 Renewal

HBO Max has canceled “Minx,” despite the show’s Season 2 renewal in May. The program was reportedly about to finish filming its second season when Warner Bros. Discovery canceled the show as part of its most recent cost-cutting measure. Additionally, the first season will be removed from HBO Max as the show’s creator, Lionsgate Television, plans to pitch the project to other platforms.

In a statement, Lionsgate stated, “We have enjoyed a fantastic cooperation with HBO Max and are working closely to find a new opportunity for ‘Minx,’ so that current, as well as new viewers, may continue this journey with us.”

“Minx” takes place in Los Angeles in the 1970s. Idara Victor, Jessica Lowe, Lennon Parham, Michael Angarano, and Oscar Montoya are among the other actors who appear in the series, which centers on Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond), who is described as “an earnest young feminist who joins forces with a low-rent publisher (Jake Johnson) to create the first erotic magazine for women.” When the show first aired, it was well-regarded; Season 1 of the show currently has a 97% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Along with inventing the show, Ellen Rapoport also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Feigco Entertainment’s executive producers are Paul Feig and Dan Magnante. Goldenberg directed the pilot, while Ben Karlin and Rachel Lee Goldenberg both produced. Co-executive producer Johnson works on the project. The studio is called Lionsgate Television.

To keep a pledge to shareholders to find $3.5 billion in savings inside the newly combined firm, CEO David Zaslav and his staff have taken many similar actions since Discovery finalized its acquisition of WarnerMedia earlier this year. To that purpose, significant development has been eliminated, and certain shows have been completely removed from the service.

Additionally, despite having previously finished Season 2 of “Chad” at TBS, where scripted programming is predominately produced, it was canceled. Additionally, the choices are not limited to television. Most notoriously, Warner Bros. While the “Batgirl” movie was in post-production, Discovery killed it. Recent news indicates that “Wonder Woman 3” will not proceed as DC prepares for a significant reboot under James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Why Netflix Should Save Minx Season 2

Netflix has sadly been saving increasingly rare shows in recent years. Thus, it seems unlikely that the streaming site will hold Minx. However, Netflix needs more critically praised comedies as the streaming giant has struggled to garner nominations for its comedy shows over the years. Their most recent acquisition was the Peacock comedy series Girls5Eva.

I am obviously disappointed that Minx (along with several other shows yet to be announced) is leaving HBO Max. I’m proud of the show we’ve made and am confident that the audience will come with us to our new home. Thank you to the best cast and crew in the business. #minxonmax

The Netflix lineup might benefit significantly from the addition of Minx. Since the service transmits New Girl, it is already a well-liked destination for Jake Johnson fans. On shows like Dear White People, Orange Is the New Black, Selling the OC, and Kevin Hart: Don’t F**k This Up, Netflix and Lionsgate Television have already worked together. Even if it seems improbable, we’re hoping that Netflix will pick up Minx season 2, especially since filming is almost complete.
