It’s possible that R&B artist Marques Houston is engaged to a teenager who ran away. The 38-year-old celebrity announced the joyous news of his engagement to his longtime girlfriend Miya more than a year ago, and just recently, additional information about his fiancee has been made public.
Since becoming engaged to the former cast member of “Sister, Sister,” Miya has changed her name on Instagram to Miyana Houston. However, she rarely discusses her history or her family on any of her other social media accounts. She, however, did explain that her real name was Miyana Juanita Houston.
According to Page Six, a girl whose name and image resemble Marques’ fiancee was found on the National Database for Missing Teenagers following a brief search on Google. The database is maintained by the United States Department of Justice.
According to the database, a teenage girl named “Miyana Juanita Pinkney” had been proclaimed missing in Oregon since 2016, when she was just 15 years old. Her parents uploaded pictures of her to a website under the heading “lost teen,” since they were under the impression that she had run away from their house in Oregon and gone to California.
“Miyana’s birth mother, Paula Harris, lost parental rights in California and Miyana was adopted in California in 2012,” read the description on the website. “Miyana ran away from her home in Eugene, Oregon, on August 6, 2016, at 8:00 AM. It is believed Miyana is with, or traveling to, her birth mother, Paula Harris, or maternal grandmother, Barbara Dotson, in California.”
She continued-
“So you stay kind, committed to love, and free in your authenticity, and no matter what they do or say… never doubt your worth of the beauty of your truth. You keep on shining and let the haters hate.”
If the rumor turns out to be genuine, it means that Marques and Miya’s relationship began when Miya was either 17 or 18 years old. They initially connected while they were both attending Jehovah’s Witness services, and in October of 2018, they made their relationship public on Instagram. He made the announcement in March 2019 that he had proposed to his fiancée, who he had previously starred in “A Different World.”
“She said ‘YES’ [a ring emoji,]” he captioned a snap of close-up shot of the pair’s hands interlocked with a beach’s shoreline in the background. “My fiance @miyanahouston,” he wrote alongside another photo of them sitting on the backseat of a car.
