Early Musical Journey:
LaTocha Scott’s musical journey began at a young age. She was just 6 years old when she started singing in church and performing at weddings. Formation of Xscape:
LaTocha and her sister, Tamika, crossed paths with Kandi Burruss during their high school years. The three talented young women decided to join forces and began singing together.
Prior to this, LaTocha had been part of a group called Precise. Eventually, they decided to expand their group and added a fourth member, Tamera Coggins. However, Tamera’s tenure in the group was short-lived, and she was replaced by Tameka “Tiny” Cottle after auditioning successfully. With the final lineup in place, the R&B group Xscape was officially formed.
In 1992, Xscape made their debut performance on BET’s Teen Summit, marking the beginning of their journey to stardom. Solo Career and Beyond:
In 1999, LaTocha Scott decided to leave Xscape as the group’s dynamics shifted following the release of their third album. She shifted her focus to her solo career, releasing her debut solo track titled “Promises” in 1998.
During the early 2000s, LaTocha ventured into her solo career and signed a record deal with Sony Urban after reuniting with her former manager, Michael Mauldin.
