Kronos Warns Cyberattack May Knock HR Software Offline for Weeks

About the Kronos Warns Cyberattack: The subordinate of the Ultimate Kronos Group Kronos, which is a provider of payroll and the software of time-sheet revealed that it has been the subject of ransomware attack which may plunge its systems into an offline mode for many weeks.

The company was aware of the problem on Saturday and took steps to inquire into and find a solution to it according to an update the firm shared with its customers on its website. Kronos said that it was working with top cyber-security experts to analyze and sort out the problem but cautioned its users to go for other options due to the expected delay before its software is functional again.

Statement by the Company

The company clarified, “While we are working diligently, our Kronos Private Cloud solutions are currently unavailable. Given that it may take up to several weeks to restore system availability, we strongly recommend that you evaluate and implement alternative business continuity protocols related to the affected UKG solutions.”

Other products as UKG Pro were not disturbed according to the company. Kronos has an extensive build of customers, considering on its website that clients include Tesla Inc., the city Cleveland, Kum and Go convenience stores, MGM Resorts International, and many health agencies. Users, which include New York City’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority were unable to get Kronos services on Monday.

Relation to Log4Shell Vulnerability 

Kronos has not declared whether the attack has relevance to the Log4Shell vulnerability which was found last weekend, which U.S. cyber-security personnel have branded as “a significant threat”
