Kim Kardashian on co-parenting with Kanye West

Kim Kardashian is speaking out for the first time since the end of her marriage to Kanye West a month ago. In an interview with Angie Martinez for her “IRL” podcast, which came out Monday, Kardashian talked about how she and West, whose name is now Ye, do their best to raise their four young children.

“Co-parenting is hard,” Kardashian said. “It’s really f—ing hard.” When she talked about her late father, Robert Kardashian, who died in 2003, she started to cry.

“I had the best dad, and I had the best memories and the greatest experience and that’s all I want for my kids,” Kardashian tearfully said. “That’s what I would want for them.”

Even though she didn’t talk about Ye’s recent anti-Semitic comments and controversies directly, Kardashian told Martinez that she tries to keep their kids as far away from the media as possible. She said she is sure their kids don’t know about West’s recent actions because she limits their access to TV and social media and talks to their teachers.

“If they don’t know the things that are being said or what’s happening in the world, why would I ever bring that energy to them? That’s really heavy grown-up s— that they’re not ready to deal with,” Kardashian said.

She also said, “In the eyes of my kids, for my kids, I protect Ye.” “One day my kids will thank me for sitting here and not bashing their dad when I could,” she said. “They’ll thank me and I’ll privately answer anything that they want to know. It’s not my place anymore to jump in.”

Kardashian brought up a statement she made against hate speech in October. “I stand together with the Jewish community and call on the terrible violence and hateful rhetoric towards them to come to an immediate end,” Kardashian said at the time.

Ye told “Good Morning America” in September that he was sorry to Kardashian for “any stress” he had caused her. “This is the mother of my children, and I apologise for any stress that I have caused, even in my frustration because God calls me to be stronger,” Ye said at the time.
