An action sports legend named Ken Block, who was also the co-founder of DC Shoes and Hoonigan Racing, passed away on Monday at the age of 55 after being involved in a snowmobile accident close to his home in Utah.

When Block was riding his snowmobile on a steep slope at 2:00 in the afternoon, the machine flipped over and landed on top of him. On Hoonigan’s various social media channels, the news was officially announced and confirmed.

In 1984, Block was one of the co-founders of DC Shoes, and he later sold the skateboard business in 2004. After that, he transitioned from being a marketing executive to becoming one of the most recognizable names in the world of motorsports.

Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office in the state of Utah commented, “We are shocked to learn of Kenneth’s passing, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and all of his close friends who are going through such a difficult time. We are grateful to all of our first responders for the service that they continue to provide.”

Block was mentioned by Hoonigan; “Ken was a man of extraordinary vision who was also a trailblazer and an icon. And, maybe most significantly, a father and a husband in their own right. He will be sorely missed by everyone. While the family is going through this difficult period, we ask that you respect their need for privacy.”

He competed in the RallyCross competition at the X Games and won five medals. With over one billion page views, the Hoonigan YouTube channel quickly became the most popular in the annals of motorsports’ long and illustrious history.
