Kate Middleton’s First Appearance Since Prince Harry’s Memoir

The Duke of Suss*x goes into great detail in his biography Spare about his interactions and disagreements with Prince William and Kate Middleton. Since the publication of Prince Harry’s eagerly awaited memoir, Spare, Kate Middleton has not been spotted in public. On Wednesday morning, the Princess of Wales turned 41 on Monday and was seen operating a vehicle close to Windsor Castle.

Since Harry’s book was published in full on Tuesday, Kate has not been seen in public. The memoir makes numerous mentions of Kate and her husband, Prince William, including an account from Harry that his wife, Meghan Markle, and his sister-in-law got into a violent argument in 2018 when Meghan referred to Kate’s “baby brain due to her hormones.”

Kate brought up the subject with Meghan and reprimanded her for thinking that talking about pregnancy hormones was too personal. Kate gave birth to her third child, Prince Louis, one month before the Duke and Duchess of Suss*x were married later that year.

According to the Duke of Suss*x’s account in the book, Prince William accused Meghan of making a “rude” remark while pointing his finger at her. The reprimand stung Meghan in return.

In the book, Harry, 38, also talked about how getting married to Kate made him feel like William was “gone — forever” and that their 2011 wedding was “yet another farewell.”

“The brother I’d escorted into Westminster Abbey that morning was gone — forever,” Harry wrote. “Who could deny it? He’d never again be, first and foremost, Willy. We’d never again ride together across the Lesotho countryside with capes blowing behind us. We’d never again share a horsey-smelling cottage while learning to fly. Who shall separate us? Life, that’s who.”

“And I recall Willy walking her back up the aisle, and as they disappeared through the door, into the carriage that would convey them to Buckingham Palace, into the eternal partnership they’d pledged, I recall thinking: Goodbye,” he wrote.

Additionally, Prince Harry asserted that Kate Middleton and Prince William urged him to don the famed Nazi costume in 2005. Harry was 20 years old when the picture of him having a cigarette and a drink while wearing a red swastika armband made international headlines.

“I phoned Willy and Kate and asked what they thought. Nazi uniform, they said,” wrote Harry, adding that when he brought the costume home and tried it on, “They both howled. Worse than Willy’s leotard outfit! Way more ridiculous! Which, again, was the point.”

In the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, Harry has voiced profound regret about the choice, calling it “one of the biggest mistakes of my life.”

According to Prince Harry, being referred to as the “spare” to his older brother throughout his upbringing was hard, he tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview.

“For as long as I can remember, I’ve heard and seen the term ‘spare’ to describe me. I knew the only way I could write this book with a good conscience would be if I openly and honestly confronted my experiences and leaned into what once held me back—including this term,” he says. “While I know much of my life may seem unrelatable, I think most siblings can relate to struggling with comparisons, and my brother and I are no exception.”

After spending Christmas with the royal family, Kate and Prince William have kept a low profile recently. On Christmas Day, the couple and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis went to church with King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other royal family members.

Thank you so much, Kate said of the presents her children received, “They got lots of lovely things, thank you very much.”
