After learning of John Metchie III’s leukemia diagnosis, Alabama football coach Nick Saban offered his support for the former Crimson Tide star. He was diagnosed with a treatable form of leukemia, the Houston Texans announced in a statement released through the organization on Sunday, after being taken in the second round.

To put it another way, “John has surmounted every challenge put in front of him in his life with tenacity and determination,” Saban remarked. “His location in Houston, which is known for its high quality of medical care, and the support he will receive from the Houston Texans throughout this ordeal is a blessing. In the midst of his battle, we will keep him in our thoughts and prayers.”
John Metchie III will have the best cancer doctors in the world at MD Anderson, which is a couple of miles from NRG Stadium. He’ll get the best possible treatment for Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia, which he called the “most curable form of Leukemia.”
