Jak Knight Comedian, Writer, and Bust Down Star Dies At 28

On Thursday, Jak Knight, a stand-up comedian most known for his performances on Bust Down, Big Mouth, and Pause With Sam Jay, died in Los Angeles at the age of 28. The news was confirmed by the Knights’ family to reporters. Uncertainty as to the cause of death remained.

Knight’s popularity was on the increase at that time. Co-creating Bust Down with Sam Jay, Langston Kerman, and Chris Redd recently premiered on Peacock. A group of pals doing low-paying jobs at an Indiana casino were the stars of the series, which Knight also executive produced.

Sam Jay’s HBO series, Pause with Sam Jay, saw Knight work with Jay as an executive producer and writer.

He was a writer for the 2013 Fox animated series Lucas Bros. Moving Company and an executive story editor on a season of Black-ish in his early years in the industry. Immoral Compass, a comedy series were written by Bill Burr, followed, where he worked as a staff writer and story editor for Netflix’s animated success Big Mouth.

DeVon, another character he played, was also voiced by him. In addition to American Dad! and NBA 2K17, he provided voiceover work for the video game.

In 2018, Knight starred in a Netflix special as part of the streaming service’s The Comedy Lineup. The 2014 Comedy Central Comics to Watch and the 2015 Montreal Just for Laughs Festival’s New Face both recognized him.

The Meltdown With Jonah and Kumail, @Midnight, and Adam Devine’s House Party are some of the shows he has appeared on in the past. On the road, he opened for Joel McHale, Eric Andre, Moshe Kasher, and Dave Chappelle at the 2015 Oddball Comedy Festival, which was headlined by Amy Schumer and Aziz Ansari.

On Friday, when the news of his death broke, the comedy community showed their sorrow by issuing a statement. The official Twitter account of Comedy Central said, “In addition to being hilarious, Jak Knight was also an open and sincere comedian. He will be sorely missed.

” Kumail Nanjiani, a fellow comedian, also tweeted his condolences “Jak Knight, rest in peace. The funniest man on the planet, and a fantastic human being all around. Honestly, I’m shocked.”
