The aberrant growth of blood vessels in the back of his eyes caused his retinas to detach, and the oxygen pumped into his incubator only made the situation worse, leaving him permanently blind.
The car Stevie was touring in was involved in a serious accident on August 6, 1973, in North Carolina. The collision between the automobile and the truck trailer was what caused the accident. Because of this, he went into a coma that lasted for four days, during which time he lost his sense of smell and taste temporarily.
Stevie Wonder’s Personal Life
Wonder has nine children with five different ladies from his three marriages. He wed Syreeta Wright, a member of the Motown music group, in 1970. They split up peacefully in 1972. He was wed to the designer Kai Millard from 2001 till 2012. He tied the knot with Tomeeka Bracy in 2017.
Aisha Morris, Wonder’s eldest kid, was born in 1975. Yolanda Simmons, her mother, applied for a position as a secretary at Wonder’s publishing house, where they eventually met. The hit song “Isn’t She Lovely?” by Stevie Wonder was written by her. She has accompanied her father on albums and tours as a singer. In 1977, Wonder and Simmons welcomed their son, Keita.
Mumtaz Morris, Wonder’s kid with Melody McCully, was born in 1983. Together with a woman whose identity has never been made public, he raised two children, a girl named Sophia and a son named Kwame. With his second wife, Kai Millard, he has two kids named Kialand and Mandla.
Nia, Wonder’s daughter with longtime partner Tomeeka Robyn Bracy, was born in December 2014. Wonder and Bracy’s first kid has yet to be named.
