In/Spectre Anime Season 2 Is There Any New Season Coming Out?

Volume 2 of the eerie anime series ‘In/Spectre’ authored by Kyo Shirodaira and illustrated by Hiro Kyohara and Chasiba Katose. “Kyok Suiri,” the inspiration for the show, is a Japanese novel. Volume 1 was released by Kodansha under the imprint Kodansha Novels. The Kodansha Taiga imprint was used for the third, fourth, and fifth volumes.

Due to “different reasons,” the second season of In/Spectre (Kyok Suiri or Invented Interface), the television anime of Kyo Shirodaira and Chasiba Katase’s manga, has been postponed from October 2022 to January 2023. Masayuki Muroi (Makoto Furukawa) and Yuki-Onna (Aoi Yki) have been added to the cast. You may watch it on Crunchyroll.

Kidd Grade, Endride, and Sengoku Collection helmer Keiji Gotoh (Kiddy Grade, Noboru Takagi’s Golden Kamuy, Kuroko’s Basketball) will return to Brains Base to direct the second season of the anime. D-Frag! character designer and primary animation director Kentarou Matsumoto (who worked on In/Spectre season 1) is the creative force behind the characters. The project is being produced by NAS.

The first season of the anime was a Crunchyroll Originals co-production. In Japan, the show premiered in January 2020 with a total of 12 instalments. The anime was also available in an English dub on Crunchyroll.

Both Kotoko and Kuro’s involvement in the Yokai realm and their developing romance are major plot points in “In/Spectre.” Since Kotoko and Kuro are no longer only courting each other at the end of Season 1, this new subplot will have a significant impact on Season 2.

Season 2 is likely to draw heavily from the second “In/Spectre” light novel by author Kyo Shirodaira, given that the first season was based on the first volume of the light novel series (via Anime News Network). First season of the anime was compared by the author Patrick Frye to its original material and he found it to be nearly comparable.

As they recalled, in the second instalment of the light book series, Kotoko and Kuro are back in Totomizu, a coastal resort town, to solve a mystery. Rikka, Kuro’s cousin from Season 1, is still an unpleasant presence. In the lead-up to its eventual release, more information about the plot of “In/Spectre” Season 2 and how it may mirror or diverge from the light novel series should be detailed.

Although the postponing of In/Spectre season 2 isn’t ideal, it’s reassuring to know that the delay will be short-lived. The anime’s Japanese website confirmed its return in January 2023 in the same statement that announced the delay.

As of this writing, there is no official release date for the first episode of season 2, although it is expected to air via Crunchyroll on either Saturday, January 7th or January 14th.Similarly, the amount of episodes in season 2 has yet to be determined, with a 12-episode run anticipated for the next second supernatural adventure. Despite more than 163,000 unique reviews, the series received a 6.6/10 on IMDB and a 6.91/10 on My Anime List when it released in 2020.

Intriguingly, it appears that the series’ original author, Kyo Shirodaira, never expected the anime to get a second season. While commenting on an anime’s Japanese website, the show’s author stated that “I honestly was startled because I did not expect a second season at all,” but that “the animated Ms. Iwanaga moves again” will be monitored.

The main character of “In/Spectre” is Kotoko Iwanaga. The yokai kidnapped Kotoko when she was just 11 years old, and they live in a type of self-contained community within the fictional world of the anime. The name “yokai” alludes to a type of monstrous spirit, such as the turtle-like Kappa and the long-nosed Tengu, which is the inspiration for the “goblin” emoji (via Emojipedia). Yokai society had already determined that Kotoko would be their “Goddess of Wisdom,” a yokai ambassador in the human realm. However, this elevated her stature among yokai, but it cost her an eye and a leg.

Kuro Sakuragawa, a young man with yokai links, stands next to Kotoko. Kuro, on the other hand, is dreaded among the yokai due to a childhood episode in which his grandmother fed him yokai flesh, but Kotoko is revered. However, he is endowed with numerous superpowers due to his ingestion of the yokai. These include the capacity to predict his own destiny and the ability to heal himself of nearly any damage.

Season 2 of “In/Spectre” has yet to have an official trailer. For the time being, we’ll leave you with a pair of teasers from Season 2 of ‘In/Spectre,’ starring Kotoko Iwanaga and Kuroo Sakuragawa.
