How Old Was Tyre Nichols? The Man Allegedly Murdered!

Tyre Nichols was “damn near perfect,” according to his mother, RowVaughn Wells, who spoke at a news conference on Monday. Tyre Nichols passed away this month following an alleged beating by five police officers.

According to his mother, the 29-year-old Nichols has been residing in Memphis, Tennessee, with his parents since the outbreak. Nichols had previously lived in California, although he was a Memphis resident at his death.

He recently began working with his stepfather, Rodney Wells, at FedEx. Rodney Wells said:

“He was very, very beloved at my job. Everybody’s calling me with blessings, prayers [and] showing sympathy for what happened,”

RowVaughn Wells said:

“He only worked at FedEx for maybe nine months, but you should see the out pour of love and support,”

The Wells reported that Nichols loved skating and photography, pastimes he indulged in on the weekends. Nichols stated on his photography page:

“Photography helps me look at the world in a more creative way. It expresses me in ways I cannot write down for people.”

His mother remembered the day three days before her son’s passing. She claimed that she had been preparing chicken for dinner earlier that day and intended to cook it in his preferred manner.

According to a preliminary independent autopsy commissioned by the family, Nichols suffered “extensive bleeding caused by a severe beating.” The 6’3″ man also had Crohn’s disease and weighed 145 pounds. His family and attorneys said:

“It’s just so hard for me to even fathom all of this because it’s not real to me right now. … I don’t know anything right now,” RowVaughn Wells said. “All I know is my son Tyre is not here with me anymore,”

She said:

“I know everybody says they have a good son or that everybody’s son is good, but my son? He actually was a good boy,”

RowVaughn Wells stated that she only wants her kid to be remembered as having a “wonderful spirit” during the investigation.
