Horizon Zero Dawn, which came out in 2017, is said to be getting a remaster for PS5, along with a brand-new multiplayer game for PS5 and PC.
VGC and MP1ST have said that an updated version of Aloy’s first adventure will be coming to PS4 soon. We had already asked if The Last of Us Part 1 Remake was worth its $70 price tag just nine years after it came out.
It’s not clear if this would be a full remake like The Last of Us Part 1 or just a remaster, but some of the details point more towards the latter. According to the reports, this new version will have “accessibility features, graphics modes, and improvements to the game’s quality of life.” With the new features of Horizon: Forbidden West, it seems to be an improvement on the first game.

Horizon Zero Dawn came out for PC in 2020. It had new features like a better draw distance and higher framerates, but it wasn’t necessarily a remaster or remake of the PS4 version. These remaster, like The Last of Us Part 1, could be part of Sony’s plan to remaster some of its games that are going to be turned into TV shows or movies.

Sony officially announced a Horizon series for Netflix, and this could be a way to take advantage of the renewed interest when the series is ready to start, like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners did for Cyberpunk 2077. It’s important to note that Amazon is also turning God of War into a series, so 2018’s classic game could also get a remaster or remake in the future.
In addition to the announcement of this remake or remaster, the rumours also indicate that Guerrilla Games is hard at work on a Horizon multiplayer game for the PS5 and the PC. An “epic open world game” was the project that Guerrilla, a company based in the year 2020, was looking to hire a game programmer with experience in multiplayer to work on.
According to VGC, Horizon Zero Dawn concept art that was leaked in 2014 provided hints about Guerilla’s earlier plans to include a Monster Hunter-style multiplayer option in the game. In this mode, players would work together to take down enormous, mechanical opponents. These designs were never implemented, although they might be available in time for Horizon 3 or a standalone game.
