WASHINGTON, November 22- On Tuesday, a woman who claims that U.S. Senate candidate Herschel Walker coerced her into having an abortion in 1993 issued a challenge to the Republican candidate, asking him to meet with her in public before the runoff election in Georgia that will take place the following month. Walker has stated that he is opposed to abortion in every circumstance.
The woman launched the challenge two weeks before the runoff election that will take place on December 6, in which Walker seeks to oust Democratic U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock. The woman attended a news conference with attorney Gloria Allred but did not reveal her identity.
Walker has stated that the woman’s allegations, which were made public for the first time on October 26, are false. He has also disputed the allegation made by another lady who alleges that he paid for her to have an abortion in 2009 and that she later gave birth to one of his children. She claims that he did this. He has denied this allegation.
Neither of the women has come forward to discuss their identities in public. Has been unable to independently verify the claims made by either of the women.
“Do you have the guts to sit down with me in person, in public, look me in the eye, and tell me to my face that you don’t know who I am and that none of what I just said is true? Do you have the guts to do this? I eagerly anticipate hearing from you and will keep you posted “Tuesday, the woman was quoted as saying.
There was no one immediately available for comment from the Walker campaign.
Voice recordings that the woman and her attorney claimed to be Walker’s were played for the jury. The lady’s counsel has stated that the woman has years of documentation, including receipts and greeting cards, documenting her intimate involvement with Walker from the late 1980s through the 1990s. The materials are alleged to date back to the relationship.
The race between Warnock and Walker will be decided in a runoff because neither candidate received the required fifty per cent of the vote in the midterm elections on November 8. The Democrats’ razor-thin lead in the Senate would rise by one if Warnock were to win, giving President Joe Biden’s party more freedom to maneuver if the election were held today.
