Gretchen Whitmer Says That Her Victory Was A Vote Against Violence In Politics

Gretchen Whitmer, the incumbent governor of Michigan, stated on Sunday that she “would like to think” her reelection signalled a rejection of political violence.

“Good people need to call this out and say we will not tolerate this in this country. And perhaps part of that message was sent this election, Whitmer said on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday.

Whitmer was the intended victim of an abduction scheme in the year 2020, and the risk of political violence became especially widespread around the end of the previous month after the savage attack on the husband of the Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi.

The governor, who handily defeated her Republican opponent Tudor Dixon in the election by a margin of more than ten points, stated that abortion was an issue in both her race and other elections held across the country.
