Toho is reclaiming the Godzilla mantle that America had taken for a whole new Japanese Godzilla film, and it looks delicious.
The first Godzilla Minus One trailer was recently released, and it depicted a mix of human drama and savage monster destruction in post-war Japan. The Minus One moniker and time period appear to imply a sort of reboot in which Godzilla appears before his initial 1954 debut.
This is the first live-action Godzilla film from Japan since the fantastic Shin Godzilla in 2016, during which time the King of Monsters Western version has appeared a couple of times. In this post, we are going to share everything we know about Godzilla Minys One including the Release date, plot, and many more things.
Godzilla Minus One Release Date
Godzilla Minus One will be released in theaters all over the world right before the holidays because nothing says “Happy Holidays” like a scary 500-foot-tall lizard. As expected, the first place the movie will be shown is in Japan, where it was made.
It will open on November 3, 2023. The movie will then come out in the West about a month later, on Friday, December 1, 2023, in places like Canada and the United States.
GODZILLA.OFFICIAL Has confirmed the news of its release date from their official Twitter handle:

Godzilla Minus One Cast?
Ryunosuke Kamiki will play Koichi Shikishima, Minami Hamabe will play Noriko Oishi, Yuki Yamada will play Shiro Mizushima, Munetaka Aoki will play Sosaku Tachibana, Hidetaka Yoshioka will play Kenji Nada, Sakura Ando will play Sumiko Ota, and Kuranosuke Sasaki will play Yoji Akitsu.
Godzilla Minus One Plot Speculation?
Even though this is the 33rd Godzilla movie that Toho has made and aired, and even though the series just started over with Shin Godzilla, Godzilla Minus One will take place in a different timeline than the previous movies. Toho’s stated plot summary for the movie says:
Japan’s economy is now worth nothing because of the war. When Godzilla shows up, the country goes into a bad state. It looks like it will be a classic Godzilla story in which the main character is a wild animal instead of a good guy who protects people, as in more modern versions.

Where Can You See Godzilla Minus One?
Watching a huge spectacle movie like a Godzilla movie on the biggest screen possible is the best way to see it. When Godzilla Minus One comes out in theaters for real this holiday season, that will be the only way to see it. As for an online release, Toho hasn’t said yet if they have any plans for one.
Shin Godzilla, the latest live-action Godzilla movie from Toho, is not available to watch anywhere right now. But the new Monsterverse movies and some of the older ones, like the first one from 1954, are currently available to watch on Max. If enough people want to see it, Godzilla Minus One might come to Max.
Who Is Making Godzilla Minus One?
With Takashi Yamazaki, the Godzilla movies will get a new and exciting writer. The talented director has already shown that he can breathe new life into a long-running series. Lupin III: The First is a great example of how he can do this.
Yamazaki also directed the first two Stand by Me Doraemon movies, and a third one is supposedly in the works. Takashi Yamazaki will not only write and direct the next movie, but he will also be in charge of the visual effects.
Conclusion: Prepare for a massive resurgence as Toho reclaims Godzilla in “Godzilla Minus One.” The teaser teases a post-war Japan filled with human drama and horrific disaster, heralding Japan’s comeback to live-action Godzilla flicks. Fans can expect a spectacular cinematic experience with a global theatrical release before the holidays. Keep an eye out for additional information on this fascinating installment.
