Florida Nurse Pleads Guilty to Death Threat to Vice President of the United States

The White House Justice Department announced that a nurse working in a Miami hospital pleaded guilty to killing US Vice President Kamala Harris.

The nurse is known as Niviane Petit Phelps, 39 years old. On Friday, she pleaded guilty to the indictment of 6 charges against her, including a charge of threatening the vice president. The sentence of the middle-aged woman is scheduled for November 19 of this year. She can face up to 5 years in prison in federal jail.

Likewise, Nurse Phelps admitted during her guilty plea, in front of the District Court in Florida, that she had been in charge of sending her husband (who is apparently in prison) a 30-second video in which he threatened Vice President Harris in February.

Prosecutors for the court commented that Phelps appears in the videos threatening and shouting vulgarities at the top of his lungs. Additionally, the Department of Justice reported that the nurse claimed that she had accepted a total sum of US $ 53,000 for carrying out her death threat against Harris within 50 days.

After sending the videos to her husband, the 39-year-old nurse sent a photograph of herself holding a firearm, and it turns out that her target at the shooting range was a leaf. Prosecutors said Ella Phelps applied for a concealed weapons permit two days after that photograph was taken.

The Justice Department also said that Phelps also admitted that she told law enforcement officers who handled the case that she didn’t know what would have happened if they hadn’t gone to her home. Clearly, this is a case with a woman who is mentally disturbed.

Scott B. Saul, the attorney, charged with defending Phelps’ rights in court, said in a statement Tuesday that his client “is convinced he was venting through a tumultuous time in his life and never had the intention to carry out their threats. “

Likewise, he was commissioned to add that “it has been important for Ms. Phelps to demonstrate her acceptance of responsibility when she begins to atone for her aberrant actions,” but that “she plans to demonstrate significant extenuating circumstances” in an attempt to obtain an “equitable” sentence from the judge handling your case.
