Even though their music is what brought them fame, the countless romances and affairs that the members of Fleetwood Mac have had have become something of a mythology. The band’s stability was put in jeopardy as a result of the romantic involvement of its members, which sometimes manifested itself in the band’s live performances. Even though they all cared too much about the band to consider disbanding it, the band’s dynamic was chaotic, notably during the time of the album Rumours. The following is a list of the relationships and affairs that contributed to the discord within Fleetwood Mac.
Because Of His Involvement With Jenny Boyd, Bob Weston Was Fired From His Job
In the years before Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac, there was still a significant amount of relationship tension inside the band. In the early 1970s, Bob Weston was the band’s lead guitarist and played with them. After he began having an affair with Mick Fleetwood’s wife, his career with the band quickly came to an end. Mick Fleetwood was the group’s co-founder and drummer.
1973 was the year that Fleetwood learned that his wife, Jenny Boyd, and Weston were participating in a love relationship. It should come as no surprise that Fleetwood sacked Weston. According to Express, Weston was quoted as saying, “[It was] the most costly affair I’ve ever had in my life.” “That decision ended my career,” he said. His absence did, however, pave the way for the band’s expansion in 1975 with the inclusion of Buckingham and Nicks.
Stevie Nicks And Lindsey Buckingham Are The Most Well-known Couple In Fleetwood Mac
Buckingham and Nicks became members of Fleetwood Mac as part of an agreement that included them both. The band needed a guitarist, and for Buckingham to play with them, Buckingham’s bandmate and girlfriend, Stevie Nicks, had to accompany him. They were already experiencing difficulties in their relationship at the time, but they tried their best to work things out for the sake of their professions. However, this didn’t last for very long.
Nicks and Buckingham went their separate ways when they were working on the album Rumours. The aftermath of their romance lasted for years; during that time, they had screaming bouts in the studio and violent altercations onstage; nonetheless, neither one of them was willing to leave the group.
Nicks was quoted as saying in Uncut that the band members were “really, each one of us was too proud and way too stubborn to walk away from it.” “I wasn’t planning on going anywhere. Lindsey had no intention of going anywhere. What would we have done instead, wasted our time in Los Angeles by attempting to form new bands? It was little more than telling people to “grit their teeth and bear it.” Although Buckingham was let go from Fleetwood Mac in 2018, Stevie Nicks is still a member of the band.

Mick Fleetwood And Stevie Nicks Had An Affair That Was Kept Secret
Nicks and Fleetwood’s affair began in the late 1970s and lasted until the early 1980s. Both parties were involved in other relationships at the time. “Eventually I fell in love with her and it was chaotic, it was on the road, and it was a crazy love affair that went on longer than any of us remember — probably several years by the end of it,” Fleetwood wrote in his book Play On. “Eventually I fell in love with her and it was chaotic, and it was on the road and it was a crazy love affair that went on longer than any of us remember.”
Nicks believes that even though they loved each other, the relationship would not have begun if either of them had been using drugs or alcohol. She also felt bad about how she had harmed Fleetwood’s family. In the book Stevie Nicks: Visions, Dreams, and Rumours by Zoe Howe, she is quoted as saying, “I loved these people.” “There was no way that it could have possibly worked out, and it didn’t. The relationship came to an end when Fleetwood chose to be with one of Nicks’ close friends rather than Nicks.
Christine Mcvie And John Mcvie Broke Up While They Were Both In Fleetwood Mac
Before becoming a member of Fleetwood Mac, singer and keyboardist Christine McVie wed John McVie, one of the band’s founding members. She explained that once she joined the band, the couple began to feel the strain of working together, which caused their relationship to begin to deteriorate.
“We were very happy. “I was very happy for probably three years, and then the strain of me being in the same band as him started to take its toll,” she told Rolling Stone. “It’s been a very difficult situation.” When you’re in the same band as someone else, you see that person very frequently—almost all the time. Because touring is not an easy thing to do, you start to see a great deal of the negative side of things.
Over time, McVie was unable to keep up with everything that was going on. In 1976, while the band was on tour, she filed for divorce from her husband.
“I ended things with John amid his tour,” she revealed later on. “I was aware that it was somewhat irresponsible,” she said. I needed to carry it out to keep my sanity. It was either that or I would have to check myself into a mental institution.”
