Long’s Park Summer Music Series Celebrates 60 Years With Different Acts

This year marks the 60th year of the Long’s Park Summer Music Series, one of Lancaster County’s most beloved annual events, and will feature performances by a wide range of talented musicians.

From June 5 through August 28, the Long’s Park Amphitheater will host weekly free concerts. The curtain rises at 7 o’clock for every show.

This year’s lineup includes:

Sunday, June 5th

The Jon Cleary and the Ultimate Monster Gents

Despite having spent his formative years in distant Cranbrook, Kent, Jon Cleary has a profound appreciation for music from the Big Easy.

The funk, jazz, and R&B artist now resides in a historic Creole neighborhood close to the Mississippi River and is widely regarded as an authority on the city’s history and music scene.

In 2015, he and his band took home the Grammy for Best Regional Roots Music Album for their work on “Go Go Juice.”

June 12th, Sunday

The Landreth Brothers

Canadian alternative country and folk band The Bros. Landreth. At the 2015 Juno Awards, their debut album, “Let It Lie,” was recognized as the Best Roots & Traditional Album by a Group.

The band was founded in 2013 by Joey and David Landreth, the sons of Winnipeg guitarist Wally Landreth.

June 19th, Sunday

Anthony Jackson

Tony Jackson isn’t your typical country music because he has a background in both the Marine Corps and business banking. He was a country music “weekend warrior” before quitting his job at Bank of America to pursue music full-time.

Although Jackson only released his debut album in 2017, his cover of George Jones’ “The Grand Tour” became a YouTube smash and made him a modest viral sensation. His first CD featured this tune with covers of songs by Conway Twitty (“It’s Only Make Believe”) and the Lovin’ Spoonful (“Nashville Cats”).

June 26th, a Sunday

Con Brio

Con Brio is a seven-piece band from the San Francisco Bay Area, and their name comes from an Italian musical direction meaning “with vigor.” Their psychedelic fusion of soul, rock and R&B is as innovative and forward-thinking as the city they were born in.

To quote Consequence of Sound, Con Brio is “a party punk version of Sly & The Family Stone.”

Third Sunday of July

“Pershing’s Own,” the Army Band of the United States

On the Fourth of July, hundreds of people flock to Long’s Park to watch the annual fireworks show and listen to a patriotic concert by the legendary “Pershing’s Own.”

This Sunday, July 10

The Orchestra of Luisito Rosario

Luisito Rosario, a powerful and authoritative salsa vocalist with over 20 years of stage experience, was raised in New Jersey listening to the salsa music’s forefathers and creators from across the Hudson River in New York City.

His performances, inspired by the golden age of salsa, will have you dancing in your seat.

July 17 (Sunday)

Lancaster Symphony Orchestra

The Lancaster Symphony Orchestra is commemorating its 60th anniversary this year, marking its first performance since 1947, when it took place at McCaskey High School. The orchestra began as a local group performing a handful of performances each year, but it has since grown into a full-fledged professional ensemble.

August 21st, Sunday

Honor the Females

Cherish the Ladies, one of the most celebrated Irish music groups in the United States, has been entertaining crowds for over 37 years with its energetic combination of traditional Irish music and step dancing.
