Details about Paramount+’s involvement have been added to this post: Paramount+ stated on Thursday that it had ordered to series a Criminal Minds reboot featuring six fan-favorite cast members, Joe Mantegna, Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler, and Paget Brewster, after an on-and-off dealmaking process that lasted more than one year.
Erica Messer, the program’s longstanding executive producer, and showrunner have also agreed to return to the show, as previously reported. A deal between Messer and ABC Signature, where she has a long-term deal, was a condition of the actors’ contracts.

ABC Signature and CBS Studios secured a licensing agreement with Paramount+ for a new 10-episode season of Criminal Minds in early February. Messer and the actors were brought on board in the past few months and production was given the go-ahead on August 21 in Los Angeles. With the hashtag #criminalminds, Mantegna teased a photo of himself on a soundstage, “doing a little inspection” for an upcoming movie.

Accordingly, Henney’s appearance on Criminal Minds or any other TV show would be subject to his commitments on the Wheel of Time and schedule conflicts.

It has been a top Netflix performance even before the service began disclosing data on how many people were watching it. Netflix only carries the first 12 seasons, whereas Paramount+ has all 15 seasons.
On the global platform, they accounted for 33.9 billion minutes, making it the most popular Netflix show in 2021. With 590 million hours seen, Criminal Minds ranked third among Netflix original shows in 2020, behind only The Office and Grey’s Anatomy.
