Craig Robinson: Active Shooter At Comedy Club Event Was ‘Wild’

After one gunman opened fire in a North Carolina comedy club, Craig Robinson was forced to cancel his performance.

When the male suspect entered the institution at 9 p.m. on Saturday, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says he displayed a pistol before the establishment was “quickly evacuated.”

An unknown assailant then allegedly opened fire inside The Comedy Zone, according to reports. According to authorities, no one was hurt during the incident, which was quickly resolved.

 A spokeswoman for The Comedy Zone stated in a statement that “Because of what happened last night, we’d like to thank everyone who helps make the Comedy Zone what it is. They sprung into action right away and got everyone out of the building safely.”

As the representative continued, “We would also want to thank the CMPD for their quick response and calm conclusion to the incident,” before stressing that shows on Friday and Saturday will be completely refunded.

The Comedy Zone’s March Mania Comedy Tournament features 57-year-old Glenn Lurie. Two comics competed head-to-head, and the audience voted on who moved on with their applause.

Robinson, 50, later posted a video on his Instagram page in which he described the “active shooter” situation. “I’m in good hands. That’s fine with me. It was a riot, “According to the Office star, “The green room was empty when they said, “Everyone gets out.” For sure, it was a memorable one.”

 While officials dealt with the problem, Robinson was ordered by police to relocate to a nearby theatre. Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Logan Henderson, and Carlos PenaVega of Big Time Rush were performing at the Metro Credit Union Amphitheater, where he was sent.

As he jokes, “Big Time Rush to the rescue,” he announces that there is an active shooter in the club where he was last seen.

On Sunday, Robinson also took to social media to express his displeasure. A sincere thank you to the Comedy Zone security and personnel for getting the group out of harm’s way so fast. “I want to express my gratitude to everyone for their kind words and best wishes.”
