COVID Vaccine Site Of New York Shifts From County Center To Westchester Medical Center

New York is shifting its site of Covid-19 vaccine shifts it out of Westchester County Center because it increases the vaccination passage for the children in the help of fighting against COVID-19.

On Friday, the state Department of Health said in a statement that, “The state’s vaccination site is shifting from the White Plains facility to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla “to better accommodate” vaccinations for children 5 to 11.” 

A Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children of ages 5-11 was approved by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention on Nov. 2.

By Thursday, Nov.18, vaccination operations will remain open for ages 12 and older by the County Center. At hospitals, the vaccination programs will then reopen on 19 Nov, Friday.

“The new location will be fully operational and provide vaccinations for all eligible New Yorkers five and over,” the state said.
Since January, the state has been managing a vaccination site at the County Center. Till now it is not clear what is the purpose behind this step for the County Center, as it is one of the popular venues for hosting sports events, trade shows, and concerts.

On Friday, Westchester County spokeswoman Catherine Cioffi said, “What happens after that is sort of fluid at this point.”

County Executive George Latimer said in October the County Center could continue to serve as a vaccination site halfway into 2022. Before returning to its use as an all-purpose events space, the County Center will need “some significant renovations” after its vaccination role ends, Latimer said at the time.
