The body of a councilwoman who was 30 years old and served the New Jersey borough of Sayreville was discovered shot to death in her car on Wednesday, according to the authorities.
Republican councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour was discovered by police with numerous gunshot wounds on Wednesday shortly after 7 p.m., and she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials from Middlesex County. Dwumfour was located by police just after 7 p.m.
According to a CNN affiliate, WABC, Dwumfour was reportedly shot while sitting inside her vehicle near her residence. After that, the report from the affiliate stated that the vehicle continued down the road and collided with other parked automobiles.
Sayreville Mayor Victoria Kilpatrick said she was “shocked and saddened” to hear about Dwumfour’s death and that she was “taken from us by a despicable criminal act.” She and Dwumfour worked closely together on the council, she wrote.
“Beyond her dedication to our community, I can share that she was a woman of deep faith and worked hard to integrate her strong Christian beliefs into her daily life as a person and a community leader,” the mayor said. “On a personal note, I can’t adequately express my feeling of sorrow at the loss of a friend.”
The inquiry, according to the officials, is still going on, and they do not have a motive at this moment. CNN has reached out to the authorities in an effort to obtain additional information.

The governor later added that “we’ll do anything we can to track down this murderer.”
He urged the public to come forward and connect with authorities if they know anything, “even if it’s a little thing.”
