It’s the battle of the two big-screen iPhones.
You can decide which big-screen iPhone is best for you by comparing the iPhone 14 Plus and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Both the iPhone 14 Plus and the iPhone 14 Pro Max are among the best phones. They both have sizeable 6.7-inch OLED displays, a lot of speed, and great cameras.
As you’ll see in our review of the iPhone 14 Plus, Apple’s $899 replacement for the iPhone mini is all about giving you a big screen for less money than the Pro series. And our review of the $1,099 iPhone 14 Pro Max shows that Apple’s top-of-the-line phone is made to take photos and videos and offers unique features like Dynamic Island and an always-on display. iPhone 14 Plus Vs. iPhone 14 Pro Max — Comparison Of Design And Colors
Because it is not overly heavy, the Apple iPhone 14 Plus quickly takes first place in this area. This mobile device has dimensions of 6.33 inches by 3.07 inches by 0.31 inches and weighs only 7.16 ounces, in contrast to the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which has those exact dimensions but weighs 8.47 ounces.
The lighter weight of the iPhone 14 Plus is something you will undoubtedly appreciate, regardless of whether you are holding one of these phones or placing it in one of your front pockets. Even though you give up a telephoto lens in exchange for the minor camera patch on the back of the iPhone 14 Plus, this is another feature I like.
In other respects, the design of the iPhone 14 Pro Max appeals to me more, beginning with the notch. Because Apple’s new Dynamic Island is used on the Pro Max, it has been shrunk to a more manageable size. Notifications of live activities and several other alerts can be displayed in this area.
In addition, I enjoy how the band on the Pro Max is made of stainless steel, whereas the bar on the iPhone 14 Plus is made of aluminium. It’s a question of personal preference, whatever colour options you choose. Still, I find the matte finishes on the iPhone 14 Pro Max to be more sophisticated than those on the iPhone 14 Plus, which have a glossier appearance.
Five colour options are available for the iPhone 14 Plus: Midnight, Purple, Starlight, and Red. You have fewer colour options with the Pro Max—Space Black, Silver, Gold, and Deep Purple.
iPhone 14 Plus vs iPhone 14 Pro Max: Displays
Don’t get me wrong. The OLED display on the iPhone 14 Plus, which measures 6.7 inches, is excellent. It is vivid and colourful and provides a broad range of viewing angles. This panel produced results that were marginally superior to those of the iPhone 14 Pro Max regarding colour reproduction and colour accuracy.
Nevertheless, the ProMotion display found in the iPhone 14 Pro Max is more flexible, and this is the case for two reasons. It has a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, resulting in a more fluid scrolling experience and more lifelike animations.
iPhone 14 Plus | iPhone 14 Pro Max | |
Nits (brightness) | 1,100 | 1,565 |
sRGB/DCI-P3 colour reproduction | 120.6%/85.4% | 117.5%/83.2% |
Delta-E | 0.25 | 0.26 |
The iPhone 14 Pro Max display is always on, so you can check the time, battery life, notifications, and even widgets without unlocking the phone. I find it very useful in everyday life, and it’s possible because the display can be scaled down to 1Hz.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max’s screen can get much brighter in direct sunlight. We saw a maximum brightness of 1,565 nits, while the iPhone 14 Plus only had 1,100 nits.
iPhone 14 Plus vs iPhone 14 Pro Max: Cameras
The iPhone 14 Plus and Pro Max have a 12MP front camera with a quicker aperture and autofocus for better selfies. Other shared camera features include Action mode video and 4K Cinematic mode video.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max offers photographers a 48MP primary sensor. This new camera shoots ProRAW photographs at 48MP quality so that you may reframe or crop shots with great detail.
First, we focused on a baby basket at Times Square’s building. As we cropped, ProRAW mode showed greater detail. The baby’s straw and wings seem sharper. The iPhone 14’s computational photography makes the background building look more realistic. Even the right neon seems sensible. The 48MP shot is cleaner than the 12MP version, which is fuzzy.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max out zooms the iPhone 14 Plus. Pro Max has a 3x telephoto lens and 15x digital zoom. Instead of optical zoom, iPhone 14 Plus has 5x digital zoom.
In this 5x flower photo, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is more explicit. Zooming in reveals additional leaf details and brightens the image. While 15x isn’t amazing on the iPhone 14 Pro Max, you have versatility.
