Chris Pine’s been making us swoon since his big-screen debut in the 2006 romantic comedy “Just My Luck,” but his first TV appearance came when he was only 3. If you didn’t know, Robert Pine, who played Sgt. Joseph Getraer is Chris’s father, on NBC’s “CHiPs” in the late ’70s and early ’80s.
In 1983 Chris Pine joined his father on the show as a youngster named Christopher. They sang “Hurry, Hurry to Climb the Ladder” in a sweet duet that won hearts everywhere. Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a hint of how closely they are connected.
Robert frequently attends his son’s movie premieres to show his support, and he once told Men’s Journal, “You never encourage your children to attempt this business. It can be just too painful and heartbreaking. But if they show a will and will not be denied, you do a 180 and give them all the support and encouragement you can.”
In April 2022, Chris was gushing about his father’s successful profession to IndieWire. He said, “My dad’s had a hell of a career. “He got his SAG card in ’64, was under contract at Universal, got paid to be an actor, got paid to take horseback riding lessons.
Recently, Variety shared a Tweet related to Chris Pine Dad, as you can see below:

He was on ‘The Virginian,’ ‘Gunsmoke,’ and ‘The Love Boat.’ He was in ‘The Graduate.’ My father was in ‘The Graduate!’ When Dustin Hoffman goes to the fraternity to find out where Katharine Ross is getting married, there’s a shot of Dustin talking to some guys in a bathroom, and suitable old Bob Pine is there. Then they cut back to Dustin, and I think my father is the one that’s answering him.”
