The company that handled Kimbrough claimed that the actor was “a joy to behold” both on stage and in front of the camera. The agency claimed the actor passed away in a hospital from natural causes.

Kimbrough’s wife, actress Beth Howland, who portrayed Vera, the diner server, in the CBS comedy Alice in the 1970s and 1980s, passed away in 2016. Their 2002 nuptials took place more than ten years after his 1991 divorce from Mary Jane (Wilson) Kimbrough, who passed away in 2007.
