All communities south and southeast of the shores of Lake Tahoe are under mandatory evacuation orders. This protects them from the huge Caldor Fire that continues to advance towards the region’s northwest.
So far, the great fire has not only devastated hundreds of homes but threatens to burn an additional 34,000 homes.
Some media only offer estimates of the large material losses, while the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has reported that the fire has burned 204,400 acres as of Wednesday morning.

The great fire has only been contained by 20%, which is why the mandatory evacuation measures continue to be taken since even the flames are out of control and do not allow them to deviate their course or complete extinction.
Fire officials cannot yet predict the path of the fire because of the high winds and the complex mountainous landscape. What has prolonged the actions and contingencies for the tasks that finally extinguish the fire and minimize the disaster?
The fire was expected to decrease in intensity once it could reach higher altitudes in the mountains due to the sparse vegetation and moving away from residential areas. But it has not happened. On the contrary, it moves towards urbanized areas and where the largest population is found.

Nothing has been able to stop or slow down the passage of the fire through Lake Tahoe. It has burned everything it has found in its path. It has even passed around a tall granite ridge that many hoped would keep the fire out, but this has not happened.
Losses are huge. The entire Lake Tahoe area is home to some of the region’s most expensive and valuable real estate. The reason why many local spokespeople have not lacked to express their opinion.
To refer to an example of property values, some outlets have recalled that California Senator Dianne Feinstein listed her five-acre expanse with a starting price of $ 41 million earlier this year.
It is also known of at least a dozen properties with starting prices of about eight figures that appear on the market. A commercial reality that affects the strong fire today.
Strong winds propel the fierce blaze toward what remains of Lake Tahoe, as people have to abandon their properties with only what they can carry with them.
Tens of thousands of hectares have ceased to be so attractive due to the fire. Amid the evacuation warnings and the hard work of the authorities and firefighters, many private and tourist properties have been reduced to just a few ashes.
Final words:
South Lake Tahoe, the area currently at greatest risk, continues to evacuate more than 22,000 residents. The town on the Nevada-California border is directly in the path of the Caldor fire.
