Cal Kestis is an extraordinary character with a great story but has to change when he arrives in Star Wars: Jedi: Fallen Order, the sequel.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order does excellent work with its tale. The traumatic occurrences of the Jedi Knights and the influences of Order 66 cannot be ignored, but they do not dominate the narrative of the fallen Order.

Fallen Order retained many aspects of the first; it had to change its main character. How this was achieved became a point of contention.
The first game finished with Luke knighted as Jedi Knight, but it further noticed him damage the Holocron and give up the idea of restoring it to the Jedi Knights.
The lack of loose ends and the sincerity of the game’s resolution have put Luke in a kind of predicament for future titles. The players felt Luke’s story had been told, but there was no easy or clean way to get him back into the sequel.
It implies that he believes in the Jedi somehow and that he wants to revive the Jedi Order so that the Empire can control a massive part of the galaxy.
