Transgender girl Brianna Ghey was found dead in the English town of Warrington. Two teens have been charged with her death.

On February 11, Ghey’s body was found on a path in a local park, and authorities called for help. At the scene, she was said to be dead.

The Cheshire Constabulary police force arrested a 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl and questioned them. They were later charged with murder on Wednesday.

Police say they don’t know for sure if her death was caused by hate, but they are still looking for a reason. Detective Chief Superintendent Mike Evans in a statement said (as per reports by ABC News) –

“A number of enquiries in relation to this incident are underway and we are doing all that we can to establish the exact circumstances of what has happened.”

Ghey was described by her family as –

“A larger than life character who would leave a lasting impression on all that met her.”

Her family said in a statement –

“Brianna was a much loved daughter, granddaughter, and baby sister.”

“Brianna was beautiful, witty and hilarious. Brianna was strong, fearless and one of a kind.”

Ghey was a well-known person on social media sites like Instagram and TikTok, where he had thousands of followers.

Transgender people are still holding candlelight vigils all over the U.K., from Glasgow, Scotland to Dublin, Ireland, to remember and mourn Ghey’s life and death. Ghey’s family said –

“The loss of her young life has left a massive hole in our family, and we know that the teachers and her friends who were involved in her life will feel the same.”
