Black Panther: Wakanda Forever set to restart production with Letitia Wright in the month of January

After the demise of Chadwick Boseman, questions were asked about which character would play the main protagonist in the film. It seemed the most plausible choice that it would be Shuri since in the marvel comics she is the one who becomes the black panther.

Reason for Wright’s Absence

Unfortunately, Wright suffered on set injuries which led to the stoppage of the film production in order for her to recover in her London house. This had fuelled several rumours on the web about her not returning back for the film because of her belief against the vaccines.

The actress’ representative in a statement said that “Letitia has been recovering in London since September from injuries sustained on the set of Black Panther 2 and is looking forward to returning to work early 2022.”

The executives of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito and Nate Moore sent a detailed note to the production team in the month of November about the pause after Wright’s injury.

It read: “Running a production of this scale in the midst of a pandemic is not an easy task, and you have remained diligent and professional throughout,” wrote Feige, D’Esposito and Moore in their message. “In addition, as you are all aware, Letitia had a frightening accident on our set during a stunt back in August.

It was a reminder of the importance of safety at all times in our work, which we know you understand and are committed to. What we had initially thought were minor injuries turned out to be much more serious with Letitia suffering a critical shoulder fracture and a concussion with severe side effects. It has been a painful process and Letitia has been home recovering with her doctors and the support of family.”

Rumours about the replacement of the actress and the future course of the film

Talks about Wright’s substitution have pursued the film’s production from the time when the actress liked and shared posts against vaccines on social media. Rumours about Wright’s expression of her thoughts about vaccines on-set as vaccination has become mandatory in the industry has also been in the air.

About the film, Marvel is being comparatively more discreet and the production team and the casting members are preventing any spoilers about the future of the Black Panther saga from being released.

Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to be in theatres on November 11, 2022. It has an ensemble cast comprising Wright, Danai Gurira, Lipita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett. Wright plays the character of Shuri, who is the sister of T’Challa, Black Panther which was portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman.

The previous scenes which were filmed in the absence of Letitia were done in November and the production crew was sent home once the shooting was done in the week of Thanksgiving. They will again return and conclude the shooting in January 2022.
