Bill Gates Divorce: Billionaire Couple’s 27-Year Marriage Comes to an End!

Bill and Melinda Gates announced their separation in May 2021 after nearly 30 years of marriage. After a judge approved their settlement, the couple’s divorce was officially finalized in August.

Neither Bill nor Melinda will provide spousal support for court filings, stated CNN. Other financial information was not disclosed to the general public. Melinda French Gates has no plans to change her name confirmed by documents.

Bill’s net worth was approximately $152 billion before the divorce, so he and Melinda might each be worth about $76 billion now, said to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Bill is one of the world’s wealthiest persons and a Microsoft co-founder. He and his wife have also become prominent philanthropists, giving a large portion of their wealth to their foundation.

The two have recently gained prominence in the fight against COVID-19 on a global scale, in addition to leading other significant public health initiatives. Jennifer, Phoebe, and Rory are three of Bill and Melinda Gates’ other kids.

Melinda revealed for the first time what went wrong in their marriage in an interview with Gayle King in February 2022, saying it was “not one thing but many things,” including Bill’s association with Jeffery Epstein and his suspected indiscretions.

She replied, “I certainly believe in forgiveness, so I thought we had worked through some of that.” “It wasn’t one moment or one specific thing that happened. There just came a point in time where there was enough there where I realized it just wasn’t healthy, and I couldn’t trust what we had.”

The day Melinda decided to end her marriage was also her “lowest moment in life,” as stated by the recent story she wrote for USA Today.

She said, “That wasn’t something I ever thought would happen to me. It certainly wasn’t what I thought on the day I got married, but I realized for myself, I needed to make a healthier choice, and that was just a very, very sad day.”

When Melinda began working at Microsoft in 1987, the couple started dαting. The Gates provided more details about their separation decision on Twitter. The pair stated, “After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage.”

The Gates family also mentioned carrying on the work of their foundation. “Over the past 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives,” they claimed.

“We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives.”

In 2020, Bill Gates resigned from the Microsoft Board of Directors to focus more on the Gates Foundation. He and Melinda are the organization’s co-chairs and trustees. The group was founded in 2000. Related to CNBC, the foundation has assets totaling $51 billion.

Melinda claimed in February 2022, that the ex-couples were still “friendly” but not close.“There’s still healing that needs to happen. I certainly wish him well. I don’t wish him harm. I think we have a productive working relationship, and I think that will continue.”
