Around the World in 80 Days Series 2 Release Date: The second season of the David Tennant-led historical drama on BBC One has already been announced. For a second season of Around the World in 80 Days, David Tennant’s Phileas Fogg and his pals Abigail Fix (Leonie Benesch) and Passepartout (Josh Hutcherson) will be back (Ibrahim Koma).
Before setting out on his voyage, Mr. Fogg, a Victorian gentleman-turned-explorer, bet £20,000 that he could go around the world in 80 days or less with the help of journalist Abigail Fix and Passepartout, his enigmatic manservant. The BBC One period drama “Phileas” ended its season finale (spoiler alert!) with Phileas winning his titular wager with just one second left to spare.
Before the trio started thinking about their next adventure, which might involve sailing across the ocean. “Phileas” was renewed before the first season premiered on Boxing Day last year. Is there a chance that Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, another Jules Verne adaptation, is in the works?

The Around the World actress recalled how the idea was put to her at the end of season one filming, to which she responded, “Yes, 1,000 percent!” When asked about the likelihood of a second season of Around the World during a RadioTimes exclusive Big RT Interview with Leonie Benesch, the actress recalled how the idea was put to her at that time.
Before the first season’s premiere, she said the following: “Really, that announcement is pretty darn certain… She says, “It’s extremely exciting, and I’d take pretty much any project with David [Tennant] because it means I’ll get to learn even more from him.”

The three main actors from the Around the World in 80 Days cast, David Tennant, Leonie Benesch, and Ibrahim Home, seem to be returning for season two.

Several of the sad undercurrents of Phileas Fogg’s life and quest are captured in the new eight-episode portrayal of Fogg’s life and search that was produced by a group of European television organisations and broadcast in the United States on PBS under the Masterpiece banner.
The book’s authors, Ashley Pharoah and Caleb Ranson, as well as the director, Steve Barron, have some ideas about how to make the book’s setting feel relevant, but they have forgotten that the story should have a forward drive. The book has a well-known title, but current audiences are probably more familiar with it thanks to prior adaptations than the actual novel.
Despite the fact that the story’s title literally means “ticking clock,” this translation primarily lacks adventure and delight and does not pass muster as serious drama to make up for it. The main character in Around the World in 80 Days, Phileas Fogg (David Tennant), is a stoic aristocrat who lacks a sense of direction in life.
Every day at exactly 10 a.m., Fogg makes his way to the Reform Club, where he joins his peers and aristocrats for lunchtime discussions about the day’s happenings. The cycle then repeats itself as he goes back to his big home, where he finds his calcified butler and vast mansion waiting for him. Fogg becomes enthusiastic about the prospect of travelling the world in 80 days after hearing about the construction of an Indian railroad line, just like the British Empire itself does.
Fogg, who rarely leaves London, was encouraged not to go on the voyage by his snobbish friend Bellamy (Peter Sullivan). Passepartout joins Fogg in his 20,000-pound wager, along with Abigail Fix (Leonie Benesch), the writer of the original news reports who hopes to establish her career on travel-related articles.
Fans of Verne will already see changes. Passepartout is a native of Black France with a dubious motivation for joining Fogg. Fix is an unappreciated woman trying to succeed in a sexist yet evolving culture, according to Fogg. A monolithic “India,” a monolithic “American Frontier,” and Hong Kong are all still standing, but hardly any of their exploits do.
Verne’s pauses are often a colonialist nightmare, so perhaps it’s for the best. Yes, Fogg gains valuable knowledge along the journey, but his early depictions of the various communities he encounters are, um, dated.

These journeys to Hong Kong and India in this story end up becoming a criticism on the British occupation of both countries. Fogg’s tour across America ignores Native Americans in favour of emphasising the post-Civil War division. Paris serves as the scene for the opening chapter. Part Day of the Jackal, part Les Miserables.
A review of globalisation in 1870 Although some people aren’t particularly enlightened, it would be good to see bigotry and xenophobia decline. These specific vignettes, nevertheless, rarely have the strength to carry themselves. The characters argue as they are sequestered on an island by themselves. In another, they have to ride a train for more than an hour with an annoying Italian.
They attend an outdoor party in Hong Kong during this episode. Hot air ballooning is supposed to be a key scene in the story, but it’s just kind of…meh.
