Don’t use the cheap Ethernet model anymore. It would appear that Apple is discontinuing the base-level Apple TV 4K device now that it has released a newer model with a lower price point. According to MacRumors, the business is no longer offering the Apple TV HD for purchase through its website.
It is unclear whether the item will still be available for purchase at retail or through other online sites, so if you locate it at a discount, you may want to make your purchase as soon as possible. We have contacted Apple for a comment on this matter.
A move such as this shouldn’t come as a surprise. The Apple TV HD was released in 2015 with a price tag of $149, which remained unchanged even when newer 4K models offered significantly more power for as little as $30 more.

There isn’t much purpose in keeping the vintage player around now that the 2022 Apple TV 4K has a starting price of $129; this is especially true when you consider that it employs an iPhone 6-era A8 CPU, which severely restricts its potential capabilities.
There are conditions attached. If you want Ethernet or Thread support on your new Apple TV 4K, you’ll need to shell out an additional $149 for the 128GB model, which is the only one that comes with it. The original 64GB model does not have either of these features. Apple is still without a genuine low-cost media player for the living room as a result of this development.
If all you want is an alternative to the functions that are built into your TV, your only option will be to purchase one of the competing products, such as the Google Chromecast or the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max.
However, for that price of $149, you are receiving a lot more, including compatibility with all of the major HDR standards, a far more powerful processor, and additional storage. Apple is staking out the upper end of the market, and it is prepared to let its competitors fight for the remainder of the market share. This is one way that the company is clarifying its focus.
