According to the officials, a suspect has passed away following a skirmish on Wednesday night in which three officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were injured.

Earlier in the day, officers were dispatched to the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles as part of an investigation into a parolee who was believed to be on the loose. While there, they came across the individual who “refused to comply to the commands,” according to LAPD Assistant Chief Alfred Labrada, who spoke at a news conference.

According to the police, all of the cops, who have been described as senior K-9 officers, were transported to a local hospital, where they are all currently reported as having stable conditions.

The authorities did not identify the suspect or disclose any information regarding the manner in which that individual passed away. A tactical alert was issued for the entire city on Wednesday evening as the standoff was taking place, and overhead images from the scene showed a significant police presence in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood.

“Every day, the men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department put themselves in harm’s way,” Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said at the news conference. “Tonight is a reminder that the danger is very real. I’m relieved and grateful that these three brave officers are in stable condition and are able to have a conversation – with two of them, when I checked in on them just now.”
