On Monday, a day after his 8-year-old sister died when the siblings were carried away by the current, a search team discovered the body of a 4-year-old boy in a raging California river.
According to a statement from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, searchers in a boat discovered the boy’s body in the Kings River about 1.75 miles (2.8 kilometers) downstream from where he and his sister entered the water. Due to the high water levels, the river is not open for recreational purposes.

Less than an hour after sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene on Sunday around 2 p.m., the girl was discovered deἀd.
About 40 rescue workers continued their search for her brother near Sanger, a city of about 26,000 people east of Fresno, using boats, a helicopter, and a drone. Pine Flat Dam is roughly 1.6 kilometers from Sanger.
The children’s names or the cause of their deἀths were not immediately made public by officials.
Not wearing life jackets, the children dove into the water while attempting to climb a rock with their mother and another adult.

Since March 14, warnings have been put up along the Kings and San Joaquin rivers asking people to avoid the water due to dangerous conditions. Massive amounts of mountain snow accumulated over the winter are melting due to the warm weather.
“The conditions of our waterways will only become more dangerous heading into summer as the snow melts and dams release even more water into the rivers,” The water temperature is still low. The currents are strong.

After a body was discovered on Friday in Folsom Lake, northeast of Sacramento, authorities looked further north into the matter. Also reported that two people who the American River had recently carried away were still missing.
The state’s rivers are experiencing high water levels and more robust flows, and authorities have advised residents to exercise caution along these rivers.
