The divorce between Anna Marie Tendler and John Mulaney is being discussed openly. Tendler, 36, discussed her breakup with the comedian in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar published on Tuesday.
She stated, “Everything that has transpired has been totally shocking and I think surreal.” She told the outlet, “In a way, I feel like it can only go up from here.” “Because I descended as far as I could go,”
Mulaney, 38, and Tendler, married in the summer of 2014 in New York, announced their separation in May. After a relapse in his decades-long struggle with addiction, Mulaney sought therapy and finished a 60-day rehab stay three months later.
“I am heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage,” Tendler told PEOPLE in a statement at the time of their split. “I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery.”
According to Mulaney’s representative, “John will not have any further comment as he continues to focus on his recovery and getting back to work,” Page Six, which broke the news, stated in a statement.
According to court documents acquired by PEOPLE, Mulaney filed for divorce in New York. Despite being “heartbroken” by the breakup, Tendler said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar on Tuesday that she has had time to reflect and process and is now eager to begin a new chapter in her life.
